Rooted in Family

Parent involvement at Acorn

At Acorn, we see the relationship between home and school as a partnership. We send photos and descriptions of classroom activities on a weekly basis to keep families informed about the exciting things happening in our classrooms. We host “Family Fridays” two times a year during which the classrooms are open to families after drop-off. This is a wonderful time for families, children and teachers to enjoy the classrooms together.  Parents are also welcome and encouraged to share their talents with their child’s class as well as read to them.

Parents are also encouraged to join The Acorn School’s community outreach efforts. We work closely with Reach Out and Read, Room to Grow, and other service organizations.

Parent-organized fundraising events, including Parent's Night Out in the fall and a Spring Auction, help support faculty benefits, salaries, professional development workshops and classroom materials.
